Key West Fishing in September

Town quiets down a bit as families get their kids back to school so doing some Key West fishing in September is a good way to take a peaceful, fun vacation break. Air and water temps remain in the pleasant high 80s and apart from a few breezy days, sea conditions are generally good for running offshore to the reef or Gulf Stream.

September Fish Species

Out on the wrecks, Goliath Groupers are readying for the fall spawn and schools of Sharks gather for migration season. Go out deep sea fishing to get into the schools of Bonito and enjoy the last weeks of prime Mahi-mahi fishing.

September Weather Outlook

Summer holds on into early fall in Key West and air temperatures are still averaging 86°F by the end of the month. Tropical storm season keeps chances of rain at over 50% throughout the month, mostly in the form of scattered showers.
